Isn't Jack Bauer the coolest person alive? I know he is a fictional character, but all my life I have been waiting for a person like him. He is what every guy wants to be like. Jack is tough and gets the job done. He persevere and will destroy any obstacle that gets in his way from protecting the ones he loves. Jack is dedicated to his way of life and all that he believes in. We would all be better people for having a little Jack Bauer in us.
My journey did not start with Jack Bauer however. When I was in sixth grade my prayers were answered with Fox Mulder from the X-Files. The alien fighting, F.B.I. agent who would do anything to find his sister and protect his partner and friend Dana Scully. I thought that he was the coolest person alive, then the show ceased to exist and I was left wondering to myself, "Will there ever be anyone else as captivating as Fox Mulder?" Fortunately, I would not have to wait long. Soon after The X-Files was over, a sad day for many of us, there was a replacement for the mans soul I once coveted. His name was Jack Bauer.
Watching Jack over the past five season has been a pleasure. I have watched him evolve from someone who preferred to keep ones emotions hidden from the outside world , into someone whose emotions affect his every step in his quest to undo all of the wrongs in the world. Jack has showed us that although we like to consider ourselves tough and that we might not need help from anyone, we still need a shoulder to lean on. Fortunately, this does not in anyway affect our status as a man, which most of us still cannot see past.
I would just like to thank you Jack. You are a stand up guy.
